Travels, travails, and holidays
|It’s been a while since I’ve posted, life just got away with me I guess. So much has happened. The two biggest changes in my life are that I changed jobs, and that my partner and I went separate ways.
I recently learned of an opportunity called Remote Year, and started going through the process of applying. It sounds like a fantastic program — you live in twelve different cities around the world over the course of a year, while working remotely for your regular employer. I got a decent way into the application process before realizing that you can’t take pets with you. Aieugh! I can’t give up my dog for a year. So I guess if I’m going to travel the world, I’m going to be doing it independently.
It did get me thinking more about travel again though. I gathered the courage to ask my employer to let me take an extended trip for Thanksgiving, working remotely for a week and a half. Of course now there’s all kinds of complications with bringing my dog on the flights for that. It’s just frustrating, because I started planning for it like a month and a half in advance. And that’s still somehow not enough time; there’s still all sorts of things that are going wrong, so I still don’t know if I’m going to be able to bring him with me or not.
I think one of the best moments of recent weeks was making buckeyes with my sister. Buckeyes are these little peanut butter balls covered in chocolate that my family makes every holiday season, but she decided to make them for a Halloween party we were going to. They’re so simple to make, but have so many memories for me. And they’re delicious!
Looking forward to the holiday season~
